Finished Christening Knits!

Well, I did manage to finish the cap and bootees in time for the Christening! I think that's the first deadline I've met in a long time!

Sadly the bootees were a bit big, and wouldn't stay on, but they looked pretty darn cute! Hopefully he'll get another opportunity to wear them. (read: I want another opportunity to put them on him!)

My sister very bravely went out and chose the buttons for me. I think she did very well! I don't have a photo, but there was a matching button on the hat.

We had a really lovely day, and lots of friends and family turned out to welcome our beautiful boy. Of course, there was some serious head-wetting to be done, so Bapar and Husband invested in a little something from the Rebellion Brewery. I suspect they may have had to do some serious testing...

Sausages requested that Bob have "a spiderman cake," so the week before I had a go at making a red cake with a blue web. It didn't go well. I'm not a great one for decorating cakes, but I think this might be the ugliest one so far!

Er, can you see what I was aiming for?

Strangely enough, it all got eaten just the same!

I'm joining in with Ginny's Yarn Along this week, so I'd better tell you what I'm reading! I lent Playful Parenting to Husband without having finished it myself, but I think I'll do a whole post review on that one. I'm back reading Margery Allingham. I can read it on autopilot, and when you have very small children and very little sleep that's no bad thing. It's much in the same vein as Agatha Christie, but not quite such good quality. I quite like the period setting.

I'm back to knitting on the Adventurer's Vest now we're back from our Easter holiday. I don't have much time for knitting at the moment, but I hope to have it finished for half term adventures. What are you crafting and reading this week? Did you have a good Easter break?

  2. Hat and booties are both lovely! And your honesty and pictures of the cake put a big smile on my face :-) It's sooooo much better to have a good but ugly cake than vice versa ;-)

  3. I once made a horror of a cake to please my, then, three year old son. He asked for a cake that was "Light blue and light green" and with blackberry filling. The cake was dyed green, the frosting was light blue, and it had purple blackberry filling. It was delicious, but ugly! Good job on your work!
